Terms of Service
Last updated: 26 June 2026
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Book A Barber Ltd ("BookABarber", "we", "us"), which operates the BookABarber platform. By creating an account or making a booking you accept these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform. Questions: support@bookabarber.app.
2. What BookABarber is
BookABarber is a marketplace that connects customers with independent barbershops. The barbershop — not BookABarber — provides the haircut or grooming service and is responsible for it. We provide the booking, payment and messaging tools that make that connection work. We are not party to the service itself between you and the shop.
3. Your account
You must give accurate details, keep your login secure, and be at least 18 to hold an account. You are responsible for activity under your account. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms or are used for fraud or abuse.
4. Bookings and the booking fee (customers)
When you book, you pay the barbershop's price for the service plus a £1 booking fee per person that lets you reserve your slot and skip the queue. The price you see at checkout is the total you pay. Payment is taken securely through Stripe; we do not store your card details. Our fees and prices may change from time to time, but the price shown to you at the time of booking is always the price that applies to that booking.
5. Cancellations, refunds and no-shows (customers)
- You can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before your appointment and the service amount is refunded.
- The £1 booking fee is generally non-refundable, as it pays for reserving your slot.
- If you do not turn up (a no-show) or cancel late, the barbershop's cancellation policy applies and some or all of the amount may not be refunded.
- If a shop cancels on you, you are refunded the service amount in full.
Refunds are returned to your original payment method via Stripe and may take a few days to appear.
6. Barbershop terms
If you sign up as a barbershop, the following also apply to you:
- Subscription. Listing and taking bookings requires an active platform subscription, billed monthly at the price shown when you sign up, after any free trial. You can cancel at any time and your subscription stays active until the end of the period you have paid for. If your subscription lapses, your shop can no longer take new public bookings until it is reactivated.
- Payouts via Stripe. You receive payment for your services directly through your connected Stripe account, minus Stripe's fees and our platform fee. You are responsible for completing Stripe's identity and business verification.
- Platform fee. We retain a small platform fee per booking in addition to the customer booking fee, as disclosed in your dashboard.
- Changes to fees and subscription pricing. We may change our platform fee, subscription price and other shop charges. We'll give you advance notice of any increase that affects you — shown in your dashboard and by email — before it takes effect, so you can decide whether to continue.
- Your responsibilities. You are responsible for the services you provide, your prices, your availability, your own insurance and licences, and for complying with the law (including health, safety and consumer rights). You must honour bookings accepted through the platform and handle your customers' data lawfully.
- Tax and registration. You are an independent business, not our employee, worker or agent. You are responsible for registering with HMRC as appropriate (for example as self-employed/a sole trader or a company), for your own tax, National Insurance and VAT, and for keeping your own records. BookABarber does not deduct tax from your payouts.
7. Acceptable use
Do not misuse the platform: no fraud, no attempting to bypass payment, no harassment, no uploading content you do not have the right to use, and no interfering with the platform's security or operation.
8. Content you upload
You keep ownership of photos and content you upload, but grant us a licence to host and display it as needed to run the platform. You are responsible for having the rights to anything you upload.
9. Our liability
Because the barbershop provides the actual service, we are not liable for the quality or outcome of any appointment. We provide the platform "as is" and, to the extent permitted by law, are not liable for indirect or unforeseeable losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including your statutory rights as a consumer.
10. Ending these terms
You can stop using the platform and close your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms. Closing an account does not affect bookings or payments already made.
11. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms from time to time; the "last updated" date above will change. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
